Resenting Manna
Provision doesn’t always feel like provision. Sometimes it comes in the form of something we never wanted. And sometimes we can resent what God gives us because we are more focused on what we want. But God’s provision, if we’ll open our eyes to see it, is better than anything else we could desire.
Letting Go of the Basket
We are looking at Moses’s mother today as we moved forward in the series. The day she placed him in the Nile in a woven basket must have been gut-wrenching. But her act of faith paved the way for God to lead His people out of slavery; it led to freedom. Sometimes peeling our fingers off of the basket is the very thing that will lead to our freedom too. Sometimes the release points us to a better way.
The Beginning
When did the longing begin– the feeling that maybe God is withholding something? The fear that maybe something is better outside of His word? In the garden, in the beginning, the serpent asks a question that still plagues us today: “Did God actually say…”? God’s truth is better. His commands are better.
Something Better
Today’s blog is the beginning of a series I am super excited about sharing! We are prone to wander, aren’t we? God’s spirit dwelling inside of us is continually reaching for home, but we so easily stray in search of something “better” here. It’s so tempting to wander in search of temporary satisfaction. Over the next few weeks, we’ll look at our fall in the garden. We’ll trace a pattern in the exodus of God’s people as they wander away from the God who released them in search of something better. Their story is ours as well. But nothing is better than Jesus.
One Billion
I attended a conference this weekend and walked away convicted to treasure God’s Word for the gift that it is. We get to hold it; we get to read His very Words; we get to let them light our path. I want to share with you today about the ones who don’t have this privilege yet and how you can help. For those who don’t yet have access to this gift, let’s not take it for granted.
Lessons in Letting Go: Life Update
I have always struggled with letting go, especially of the things I love. But sometimes God beckons us to do so. Today’s blog is a quick life update on a few things I have learned this week. In letting go I found peace.
Look in the Mirror
Looking in a mirror is sometimes painful! And looking into the mirror of God’s Word can be even more so. But what you find there is worth it- freedom. Read today’s blog about how God’s Word can help magnify where our heart pledges its devotion.
When Yours is the Prodigal
Sometimes our children wander even when we have done everything “right.” This is so hard. I pray that what you read here this week challenges you and encourages your heart if you find yourself in the position of yearning for your child’s return.
Idols
We all worship something, and we are showing our children what to worship. Are we pointing them to idols? This week on the blog, I share my view on why we are losing the battle for our children based on what I see in my high school classroom. What I have to say is honest, though likely unpopular. I pray you’ll read with an open heart as we look at how to take our children back.
The Tools They’ll Need
Today’s blog is practical! I want to share a few tips on how we can teach our children to seek Jesus through prayer and a daily devotion. These are the tools they need to live for the Lord. This is what leads them to everlasting life. And we get to show them the way!
Giving Them Back- Part II Discipleship
Today’s blog is Part II of giving our children back to the Lord. The best way we can return them is to disciple them. But before we can disciple them, we have to be disciples ourselves. It was Jesus’ final command, and it’ll change the lives of our children.
Giving Them Back- Part I
As a mama, I often dream of what my children will become. I have so many hopes for them. But what I want most is for them to love the Lord and to find their worth in Him. The only way I can help them do this is to give them back to Him. Read today’s blog about a few ways we can return our children to the One who gave them life.
The Lost Son
I have related to the prodigal son many times throughout my walk with the Lord. But last year, I became more like his older brother- the bitter one. In a way, maybe he is the true prodigal. I am grateful for a Father who beckons us home, whether we have wandered near or far.
A Different Peace
The news is horrific today. My heart is overwhelmed. But God met me in a tangible way, speaking to my fears in the middle of checking out at a local restaurant. As we grapple with the news coming out of Uvalde, I pray you’ll read this blog and be encouraged. Jesus left us peace, and somehow we can walk in it even now.
An Anxious Heart
Anxiety is not an easy topic to talk about out loud. But it is something so many of us struggle with. Read today’s blog about a few truths that have helped me to overcome the crippling effects of worry and anxiety.
